castelinhos de areia me fizeram sentir o vento desmanchando a pele a luz desmanchando no vento a quebra torcendo o tempo o grão virando gente
sandcastles made me feel the wind dissolving my skin, the light dissolving in the wind, the shattering twisting time, the grain turning into people
“Castelinho de Areia” (Little sandcastle) is a work that talks about ruins, illusions, and a certain sense of humor. An offshoot of the research project “I crossed the desert of the world just so I could live in you,” which began in Cariri region (a brazilian dry hinterland) and culminated in a residency in Marrakech, Morocco. It investigates the relationship between the pixel and the grain of sand, navigating a search for connections between the Brazilian northeast hinterland and the Sahara. The seriousness of the historiographical inquiry becomes a vehicle through which the artist returns to her poetic practice, rooted in the aesthetics of the pixel, the videogame, and low resolution.
